Membership

The International Association of Japanese Gardens, Inc., was formed as an Oregon, USA non-profit organization to encourage and promote intercultural communication and understanding by celebrating and studying Japanese Gardens throughout the world. Membership is open to Japanese gardens, professionals, and associates throughout the world.

Benefits of membership include:

Network of Japanese Gardens—A list of gardens and interested individuals is maintained to aid members in making connections with people of similar interests.

The Japanese Garden Library—The Association recently received a collection of 169 books on Japanese gardening and garden, including extreme rare books. The library will serve as the core of a research center for our members, scholars, and other devotees of Japanese gardens.

Member Garden Service—Members may request that the Association link them to other gardens which have addressed key challenges faced by Japanese gardens. Through this service members can benefit from the experience of other gardens with regard to specialized problems.

Garden Maintenance Program—The Association has developed a program wherein maintenance teams from Japan with the cooperation of The Garden Society of Japan will be organized to provide landscape and maintenance services on a shared cost basis; i.e., the teams will work at several overseas gardens, the costs being shared by those gardens.

The Executive Committee is considering to revise old membership criteria without membership fee.
