Dear Niwa Magazine Subscribers,

The Niwa Magazine No. 181 has been mailed on April 28, 2008 from Tokyo by the publisher. It will take 45-50 days to reach your door.

Your current subscription will expire with the next issue of No. 182, which is scheduled to be mailed from Japan on June 30 together with a special additional issue of 168 pages.

The special issue is a bonus to the existing subscribers and new subscribers starting with the issue of No. 182 without any additional charge.

Unfortunately, the existing subscription rate for 12 issues, $405, surface mail basis, is no longer applicable due to the continued weak value of the US dollar against Japanese Yen. The new subscription rate is US $450.00. We sincerely hope that you will continue the subscription of Niwa Magazine. We will appreciate your response to the attached sheet:

In the past four symposia we have focused on deepening mutual understanding between Japan and other nations through the vision of Japanese gardens. At the same time we have had elaborate discussions concerning the essence and character of Japanese gardens.

We have not focused on the critical issues of maintenance, management and conservation of Japanese gardens outside of Japan. Therefore, in this 5th Symposium we will address the various issues and challenges facing people who work hands-on, day to day, in Japanese gardens throughout the world. At the same time, we would like to discuss how the Japanese Garden community within Japan can serve as a resource to address the challenges faced by existing gardens as well as for future projects abroad. We respectfully invite your participation in this vital symposium.
